Get to Know Shannon Mischuk

Shannon Mischuk joined our team in 2020 and is now our PR and Community Manager. With over 15 years of experience in the digital and influencer marketing world, she is an excellent asset to our team.

In keeping with our 2022 theme, Stronger, we asked Shannon a few questions to get to know her better.

What is your "GO-TO" quote, scripture, and/or song(s) to help you strengthen yourself?

Shannon's favourite quote: "blessed are the flexible for they shall not be broken."

Spend any amount of time with me and you will hear me say, “Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be broken.” I don't remember where I heard it but I've been repeating it for decades. It’s a reminder that I can’t control anything but my response. When you give yourself room to be flexible, to bend, pivot, or change when needed, life will not snap when it slaps. Basically, do not be so set in your ways - so rigid - that you cannot change when and where needed.

My favourite Scripture verse can be found written on the inside cover of many of my Bibles… James 1:5, “But anyone who needs wisdom should ask God, whose very nature is to give to everyone without a second thought, without keeping score. Wisdom will certainly be given to those who ask.” When I don’t know what I’m doing - I go to Him who loves me best - He is always delighted to help me with everything I need.

How have you strengthened Graf-Martin since you joined the team?

It’s true that I have over 15 years of experience in the digital and influencer marketing world. I also spent many years as one of Canada’s top “mommy bloggers” and digital influencers. But what I think I do best for Graf-Martin is… being their resident cheerleader.

One of my core strengths is relationship building, which in the PR & Publicity world is vital. It’s key to success in all areas of the workplace! My natural desire for connectedness and enthusiasm for the work we do - and for life in general - is the spark I bring to the table. If I had a superpower, it would be positivity. I love encouraging people! You'll always find me smiling and looking for the "silver lining." I know this has helped elevate the culture at work. I am immensely passionate about strengthening this team. Seeing people's potential and stretching them in order to help discover where they shine the brightest, fills my joy cup to the brim.

How has being part of the Graf-Martin team strengthened you?

Before I started at GM, I had been working in digital marketing for a while on my own. It had been several years since BlissDom (the best blogging conference and community, 2010-2014); where the social butterfly within was able to be fully unleashed. In the self-employed years that followed, I missed having a collaborative team around me. I missed the vibe of a creative workspace.

I’m learning a great deal about the PR world and have found my groove in publicity. Being able to marry my natural relational and cheerleading abilities with a deep understanding of social media and the non-profit and faith sector, has boosted my confidence and invigorated me!

How have you been able to strengthen our clients?

Having strong communication talents, I tend to see the world through stories. I am privileged to amplify our client’s message by telling captivating stories that pique interest and inspire those who need to hear it to take action.

How is Graf-Martin building a stronger non-profit sector?

Graf-Martin helps organizations committed to hope, generosity, and justice and they do it with a level of compassion and discernment that I have not seen in any other agency! Most of us have boots-on-the-ground experience in the mission field, and decades of experience with nonprofits, churches, and faith-based media and entertainment. We are a highly skilled team and extremely passionate about the organizations we work with. The feedback we receive from clients lets us know that we truly understand them and their needs. The ability to deeply know our clients helps strengthen them, which in turn helps strengthen those they serve.

Shannon Mischuk has a knack for developing relationships, which in the PR & Publicity world, makes her feel right at home. She's a natural at networking, and growing online communities, and loves to help others amplify their message.

She and her husband have recently transitioned out of being the senior pastors of the church he planted in 1993 in Kitchener, Ontario. They love to hang out with their 4 kids, daughter-in-law, and grandson in their spare time.

Shannon, we are glad you are part of our team!
