WATERLOO – March 22 2021 – If recent years have taught us anything, it’s this: conversations about religion have become loaded. In a society where religion and faith have increasingly become polarizing topics, it’s clear that we need informed perspectives and thoughtful conversation. But, who will lead the conversation? Faith Today senior editors Bill Fledderus and Karen Stiller are stepping up to offer a trustworthy, accessible place for Christians to better navigate the intersection of their faith, culture, and current events. Faith Today has been at the centre of Canada’s Christian conversation since 1983, equipping readers from across more than 45 denominations with expert research and insight into Canadian culture, Christian life, and ministry. To serve even more readers, in May 2020 Faith Today removed subscription fees for Canadian residents, while not compromising on quality or content. This decision reflects Faith Today’s commitment to sharing insight, practical wisdom and experiences that spark reflection and conversation among Canadian Christians. About Bill Fledderus
Bill Fledderus is a senior editor at Faith Today and edits websites for its publisher, The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, where he also serves in a variety of other communications management roles. He has worked there since 1996. Bill has been teaching journalism and other writing courses for 20 years, including a series at Redeemer University since 2007. Bill loves networking with other Christians in the literary and publishing worlds. He is past president of the Canadian Christian Communicators Association (www.christiancommunicators.ca) and has taught workshops at its conferences on digital publishing. Bill has been involved with The Word Guild (www.thewordguild.com), an association of writers and editors who are Christian, since before its founding in 2001. (The organization has roots in a series of EFC writer’s conference called God Uses Ink.) He earned a master’s degree in English, specializing in creative writing, from the University of Alberta and a one-semester diploma from the Université de Paris IV-Sorbonne. He is fluent in French and loves connecting with francophone Christians in Québec and elsewhere. He has lived in Edmonton, Montréal, Oshawa, Markham, London (Ont.) and now Hamilton. He’s married with two young adult sons.
About Karen Stiller
Karen Stiller is the author of The Minister’s Wife: A memoir of faith, doubt, friendship, loneliness, forgiveness and more (Tyndale House, 2020) and a writer whose work has appeared in Reader’s Digest, The Walrus, ChristianityToday.com and other publications. She is a senior editor of Faith Today magazine and hosts the Faith Today Podcast. Stiller is co-author of Craft, Cost & Call: How to Build a Life as a Christian Writer (Friesen Press, 2019) and other titles exploring the role of the Church in Canada and the world. She moderates the annual Religion and Society series at the University of Toronto, a debate series between leading atheists and theologians that seeks to generate critical conversations on matters of faith, society, and public interest. Stiller has a degree in International Development Studies from Dalhousie University, a communications certificate from Tyndale University College & Seminary, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Non-Fiction from University of King’s College, Dalhousie. She is married to Brent, an Anglican priest. They live in Ottawa and they have three grown children.
